Reading Partners at USC is a student-run club committed to fighting the literacy crisis in America by helping elementary schoolers in South Central Los Angeles learn how to read. Today, more than two-thirds of 4th–8th graders in the U.S. cannot read at grade level. The COVID-19 pandemic has only deepened this crisis.
Our club works directly with students at 20th Street Elementary, 49th Street Elementary, and Dolores Huerta Elementary, providing one-on-one reading support and mentorship.
We are raising funds to support:
- Transportation costs for members who travel to local schools
- Snacks and meals during club meetings to boost engagement and attendance
- Materials for outreach at the upcoming club fair to grow our team of dedicated volunteers
